Founder Team
Emma developed a lifelong love for travel and culture during her childhood. Her mother is an avid traveler and showed her from an early age that travel is important. She has visited destinations all over the world with family, friends, and on her own. Fascinated by the new places, customs, and people she encountered along the way, Emma went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in anthropology at Dickinson College.
During Emma’s time as an undergraduate, she studied abroad twice. Her first time studying overseas was in Tanzania, conducting independent and original ethnographic fieldwork for a summer. After that, Emma moved abroad for an academic year to study in Copenhagen, Denmark where she also enjoyed the opportunity to travel throughout Europe. These experiences inspired her to pursue a career in international education where she could help students have experiences as life-changing as her own.
Following her college graduation in 2016, Emma relocated to Madrid, Spain. There, she taught English for two years, interned for the Association of North American University Programs in Spain (APUNE), and completed a yearlong intensive Spanish language program. Living in Spain taught her new things about culture, communication, and herself. In the summer of 2019, Emma returned to the U.S. to pursue a master’s degree in International Education Management at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey, which she finished with a practicum back in Madrid at the Middlebury School in Spain.
After earning her graduate degree, Emma started working at Academic Programs International where she is currently the Team Lead for Customized Enrollment. She loves helping students prepare to study abroad and seeing the ways in which it shapes their lives, future pursuits, and worldviews. She is looking forward to a long career in international education management.
In her free time, she loves to go to museums, eat good food, spend time with family and friends, discover new things, and travel. If she isn’t on a trip, she’s already planning the next one. Some of her favorite travel destinations have included South Africa, Japan, the Netherlands, Poland, Iceland, Spain, and Ireland. She can’t wait to grow the list of places she’s been.
