Dreams Abroad is proud to welcome celebrated executive pastry chef Padua Player, a.k.a. SugaChef, to our inaugural Meet the Locals event on Saturday, November 4 from 6:30 to 8 p.m at REWILD, 232 7th Street SE, Washington, D.C., 20003.
Meet the Locals
In celebration of over 500 published Dreams Abroad articles, SugaChef Desserts will be bringing the “suga,” and guests will have the delicious opportunity to sample some of his tasty desserts. As part of our mission to connect locals from around the world, SugaChef has been featured in Dream’s Abroad’s ongoing Meet the Locals series. The series highlights hometown experts and global professionals with a passion for sharing their travel expertise and local insight with others. Meet the Locals launched in early 2023 and to date, has featured eight locals spanning four different continents.
Padua Player grew up the youngest of seven children in northeast Washington, D.C. Although his roots were modest, Player had early “suga” dreams of baking the perfect pastry. Since climbing the “food chain” from dishwasher to business owner, the chef’s decidedly artistic creations have been savored everywhere from the Food Network to the White House, even earning the praise of President Biden. SugaChef is a teacher of culinary arts and is committed to giving back to his local community. He frequently donates his talents to support D.C.’s unhoused population.
Meet the Venue
This exclusive Dreams Abroad taste-and-greet will take place at REWILD—a unique plant store on a mission to connect people to nature. Owner Joseph Ressler is committed to helping each customer find the perfect plant for their space, and you’ll love exploring his colorful shop as you mingle.
Meet You at the Party
Dreams Abroad is proud to announce a joint celebration with Adam Rogers, a Dreams Abroad Senior Writer and VIP Passport Holder. He’s celebrating his 60th birthday the best way he knows how—with parties on six continents! This event is his North America party and the second in the series. The first party recently took place in Australia. Next up are parties in Europe (Switzerland), Asia (Thailand), South America (TBD), and Africa (TBD). Please join us at this event to wish Adam a happy birthday!
The special evening with D.C. local SugaChef and Adam Rogers will also be a chance to learn more about the emerging world of Dreams Abroad, as well as exciting future plans for our founding Passport Holders.
